After reading “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green, I was eager to read other books he had written. I had heard great things about his book “Looking For Alaska” but I was actually somewhat disappointed by it. Basically, it’s about a boy named Miles who goes to a boarding school looking for “The Great Perhaps.” While there he meets Alaska and Chip. The whole novel is about the time they spend together and all of the great things they do.
Although the concept is interesting, it wasn’t written as well as it could have been. The storyline didn’t flow all that well, and it was difficult to follow. At the same time, once you finish the book and look back on what you read, it was a good story and would have been very gripping had it been written better. In Green’s defense, it was his first novel, so it is good from that perspective.
