If you’re looking for a series full of action and adventure, then this is the book for you. If you’re looking for a sappy love triangle, then you’ll have to wait until around the fourth book, and even then it isn’t your typical romance. Basically, the series is about six superhuman kids who were raised by scientists in an underground lab called the School. While they were there, the scientists mixed their human DNA with avian DNA and suddenly the kids have wings. After escaping from the School the first time around, the kids are forced to live in remote areas so that no one learns their secret. And of course, just about everything that could go wrong does.
I thought that this series was completely incredible, but I had a difficult time reading it the whole way through. It definitely gets a little boring after the third and fourth books, but it finally picks itself back up in the last one. It is worth the time it takes to get through the whole thing, but you would definitely want to read other books in between. The ending was pretty fabulous compared to some other books I have read and it makes up for the slow pieces in the middle. At the end of the day, this series doesn’t come close to my top five favorites, but it is still incredibly well written and entertaining.
